The present stone masonry conduit measuring about 8 Km. Or more is the only system to (1) collect water from all perennial springs and (2) to convey the same to the two Senchal lakes. The masonry conduit supported by the masonry bridges (about 20 or more) are as old as two lakes of Senchal and have been seriously affected in the past by the tremor of earthquakes, landslides and impacts of illegal tree felling. This has resulted into seepage or leakage of the conduit in different places and it even tends to give way at times. In order to keep up the better functioning of the existing conduit major restoration works and maintenance works are to be done every year between 15th. September and 15th November. Out of municipality’s own financial resources which tells heartily upon the municipality.
